Bags galore - is it worth it?

Bags galore - is it worth it?

The project was started on our initiative by the non-profit ecological association Eco Vitae, which engages in acquainting the public with environmental problems, and the design studio Lukatarina. The project was also joined by Mula initiative, a result of a collaboration between the aformentioned association and design studio, which offered the Slovenian market quality textile shopping bags made in Slovenia and thus in its own way contributed to the decrease of waste plastic bags.

Plastic bags are nowadays a large consumer problem as they are being used in extremely large quantities. The research studies show that an average Slovenian resident uses around 150 - 300 plastic bags a year.

How can we ourselves exert influence upon a lesser use of plastic bags?

* Reduce

Before you go to the store bring along a bag that is not made of plastic (paper, cloth, bio-decomposable bags, a basket). This way you will effectively interrupt the plastic bag production cycle and the pollution of our environment.

* Reuse

Use each plastic bag you are unable to resist repeatedly. We do not recommend that you use it for dumping biological waste as plastic bags aren't bio-decomposable. This way you pollute the compost soil that is acquired with biological waste.

* Recycle

Dump waste plastic bags in the dustbin for plastic and packaging. Inquire about it at the public economic service that carts off communal waste.

Say NO to plastic bags!
