Fast Fashion on Pause: Meet the Winning Posters of Plaktivat #18

Fast fashion on pause: we’re unveiling the winning posters of Plaktivat #18 and inviting you to the opening of the exhibition at the Figovec Poster Gallery in Ljubljana, taking place on Friday, 16 January, at 4 PM.

This year’s edition of Plaktivat challenged creatives from around the world to reflect on fast fashion — its speed, its consequences, and the values it carries into public space. The response was strong and diverse: we received 335 submissions from Slovenia and abroad, confirming once again that fashion, consumption and responsibility remain urgent global topics.

After careful deliberation by two expert juries, we are proud to present the winning works that stood out for their clarity, visual intelligence and ability to spark reflection — without moralising, shouting or simplifying a complex issue.

Main Category Winner: gif — Lara Pavčnik (Slovenia)

The winning poster of the main category, gif, is the work of Slovenian student Lara Pavčnik. With a deceptively simple visual gesture, the poster avoids shock tactics and overt messaging. Instead, it uses humour and restraint to interrupt the usual visual noise surrounding fast fashion.

As noted by Peter Zabret, President of the Main Category Jury, the poster offers a fresh visual and conceptual angle, addressing passers-by of all generations and speeds without instructions or judgement — perhaps even distracting us long enough to forget the next impulse buy.

The text on the poster reads: “This is the quality of your new super-cheap T-shirt.”

Fresh Blood Category Winners: Death Thread — Daniel Miś (Poland)
Blinded — Michał Zamirski (Poland)

In the Fresh Blood category, two young Polish authors impressed the jury with very different, yet equally strong approaches.

Death Thread by Daniel Miś is built around a clear, almost archetypal metaphor. Its strength lies in its balance: direct but not patronising, minimal yet powerful. According to Tomato Košir, President of the Fresh Blood Jury, the poster understands the speed of visual communication — and uses it wisely to invite reflection.

Blinded by Michał Zamirski stands out for its graphic distinctiveness and sharp awareness of public space. Compact, precise and highly communicative, the poster feels almost like an object in your hand. The jury recognised its mature visual language and noted echoes of the legendary Polish School of Poster Design.

Exhibition Opening

We warmly invite you to the opening of the exhibition of the main category finalists, which will take place on Friday, 16 January, at 4 PM, at the Figovec Poster Gallery in Ljubljana. On this occasion, the winner of the main category will also be presented with the Plaktivat award.

The Fresh Blood exhibition will follow in February.

Beyond the gallery, the winning posters will also appear on TAM-TAM city poster sites across Slovenia — in public space, where posters continue to function as a platform for dialogue and reflection.
