The finalists of the 17th International Plaktivat Competition have been announced

We present the finalists of the international Plaktivat competition, who have creatively highlighted the positive impact of culture on society and individuals throughout the year. The winners will be announced in early January.

The 17th Plaktivat, held this year under the theme Hello, Culture!, received over 400 entries from as many as 32 countries.

Awareness of the importance of culture is declining, as evidenced by research showing a decrease in cultural events and attendance in Slovenia, which still hasn’t reached pre-pandemic levels—and even then, the situation wasn’t ideal. In 2023, Slovenian cultural institutions hosted 24,154 events, attended by over 3.9 million visitors—12% fewer than in 2019. This year’s goal was to encourage the exploration of culture throughout the year and gently, yet clearly, remind us of its positive influence on society and individuals.

Peter Zabret, Creative Director at the agency Internavti and President of the Jury for the main Plaktivat category, along with Julija Somrak (DROM agency), David Fartek (ArnoldVuga), Nina Vrhovec (Multipraktik studio), Špela Drašlar (Saatchi & Saatchi), Alajž Vesel (design studio AA), and Tomaž Drozg from TAM-TAM, formed this year’s judging panel for the main Plaktivat category. Together, they selected 19 entries as finalists.
